Look no further – an exciting opportunity awaits you as a Corporate Collections Officer managing the collection of Adult Social Care charges at the London Borough of Hillingdon.
Your meticulous attention to detail, financial expertise, excellent customer service and administrative skills will be put to good use as you ensure that our residents are paying the correct amount towards their care costs.
In this role, you'll be on the front lines, providing an efficient service to maximise the recovery of invoices issued, interacting with some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Whether through phone conversations, letters, emails, or face-to-face meetings, your ability to communicate assertively yet compassionately will be key. Your patience and clear communication skills will shine as you guide residents and their families through complex matters, explaining intricacies with empathy and understanding.
Your daily responsibilities will extend beyond individual interactions. You'll collaborate closely with colleagues from various teams, forging strong connections both directly and indirectly to minimise and recover the debt as well as liaising with internal departments and external organisations to ensure the appropriate recovery action is implemented. Preparing accurate reports and statements, account reconciliation, action credit notes and refunds, dealing with invoice queries whilst maintaining the database and monitoring progress to ensure all information is up to date and communicated to Principal Officers and Managers. Your knack for accurate data entry, combined with your IT proficiency, will ensure smooth processes and efficient collaboration.
You'll work independently or under supervision, showing exceptional time management skills as you meet strict deadlines and adhere to local policies and statutory legislation.
Ideally the successful candidates will have previous experience of working in a financial environment, which included experience of administration and debt recovery work using your excellent customer skills.
Suitable candidates must have good attention to detail and the ability to work towards deadlines. You will have demonstrated the capacity to communicate, both verbally and written, with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external in respect of debt recovery and credit control.
You will have working knowledge of a range of Microsoft software and financial packages as well as the understanding and application of legislation as required by this role.

Your prowess in using various platforms will elevate your role, allowing you to streamline processes and deliver results that truly matter.
You'll be the compass guiding us through the intricate terrain of local policies and statutory legislation. Your keen attention to detail and mastery of guidelines will ensure that our processes are not only compliant but also conducted with the utmost integrity. Every step you take will be in line with the standards that uphold the trust our community places in us.
