Job description The Information Management / Information Exploitation (IM/IX) post enables Information Superiority (IS) across the UKs light and airborne division. Information Management and Exploitation is delivered through the management of information processes (including Information Assurance) and implementation of legislative policy requirements. Some policy areas include Public Records Act, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Freedom of Information (FOI), Copyright and Computer Misuse Act and others. As the Information Manager you will: Act as the Divisional lead and subject matter expert on IM/IX and Information Assurance, bringing coherence across the headquarters, brigades and units of 1 (UK) Div whilst ensuring compliance against Defence, Army and Division policy and guidance. Advise and support the Senior Information Officer and branch leads on improving the information pro-cess and exploitation of information so that activity is appropriately geared to the Division HQ Information Requirement Management process. Advise on IM/IX input into the Divisions Official Staff Work (OSW). This will include divisional directives, policy instructions and formal guidance. As the Divisions Data Protection Adviser (DPA) be the subject matter expert and lead for Data Protection policy. Work with Army Knowledge Information Management (KIM) team responding to issues and time sensitive responses. Deliver a Divisional information presence (i.e., SharePoint, Defence Intranet and Internet). Maintain familiarity with Defence IM policy and protocols and horizon scan for technologies, tools and/or working practices that could be employed to improve the Divisional Information Exploitation effect. Have Line Management responsibilities Promote and deliver IM to support a collaborative working environment across the organisation. Prepare, develop and maintain an overall Information Risk Policy and assessment process. Ensure processes, procedures and electronic ways of working across the Division conform to legal requirements and provide/signpost access to professional expertise in relevant legislation (e.g., Public Records Act, GDPR, FOI, Copyright, Environmental Information Regulations, Computer Misuse Act etc). You may be required to support other work activities and projects within the team. Person specification The successful candidate will be able to: Have analytical skills to seek and analyse information and data to inform decisions based on best available evidence to ensure improvements in the Information Exploitation effect. Be computer literate. Have good communication skills both written and verbal. Provide input into the Division's Official Staff Work and produce an information risk policy and assessment process. Be able to work with stakeholders from across the organisation. The individual will be required to exercise sound judgement and interpretative ability and application of innovative thought. Essential Criteria Proficient in Microsoft Office packages especially SharePoint, Excel and Outlook. Previous experience in preparing, developing, and maintaining an information risk policy and assessment process. Desirable Criteria Completed relevant Knowledge & Information Management (KIM) training. Experience of SharePoint site management and working knowledge of File Plans. Completed Data Protection Adviser (DPA) training.
