Summerhill is a truly great place to be! It is a vibrant, successful 11-16 community school with outstanding facilities, highly professional staff and students who are simply a joy to teach and have a thirst to learn. Ofsted (May 2024) described the school as “community and togetherness are at the heart of this wonderful school”.
Our results are the best in the Dudley Borough; however, we are so much more than that. The opportunity for students to develop their character, profile and cultural capital is evident in everything that we do. School is founded via the ethos of care and our House system of four Houses, one family. The post-holder will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic, driven team who deliver an outstanding provision through engaging lessons and exciting enrichment opportunities.
We are looking to appoint an outstanding HLTA to provide 1:1 support to a year 8 student with severe social communication difficulties, complex learning needs and challenging behaviours, to access the year 8 curriculum. With your compassion and guidance, you will empower our student to learn and reach their highest level of independence, tailored to their complex needs, while preparing them for life beyond school or college. You will be fully supported by a skilled and dedicated team every step of the way.
Our student uses alternative means of communication including Makaton, symbols or communications aids, often using a multi-sensory approach within a classroom. You may also work with some of our students who need personal care.
You need to be determined to drive up standards, have a positive approach and be committed to making a difference. In return, you will get to work in an innovative and supportive school. We have an inclusive culture which attracts, welcomes, celebrates, retains and develops fantastic people. We have high expectations for all students and staff and aim to be brilliant in all we do. We are looking for staff who share this vision!
