Coverage area: The North East (Newcastle, Middlesborough, Darlington, etc.)

About the role
We are seeking a Mechanical Handling Field Service Engineer to join our team, primarily covering the North East region. The role involves maintaining, repairing, servicing, and modifying a range of material handling equipment. As an independent company, each challenge is unique, and we value your expertise and initiative.
Key responsibilities
* Services, maintenance, overhaul, fault finding, and repairs on material handling products.
* Servicing gas, diesel, and electric forklift trucks, including checks on brakes, lifting assemblies, and steering.
* Changing oil and filters as needed.
* Conducting thorough examinations (pending qualifications).
* Preventative maintenance such as lubricating steering and lifting equipment.
* Battery maintenance, including checking voltages and fluid levels.
Qualifications and skills
Candidates should have experience with material handling products or be in an engineering role seeking progression. Candidates from backgrounds such as automotive, roadside recovery, agricultural, REME, construction equipment, PSV, HGV, LGV, or plant are also considered.
* Responding to breakdowns promptly.
* Excellent customer service skills and rapport-building abilities.
* Initiative and leadership in supporting colleagues.
* Meeting response time targets.
* Accurate documentation and communication.
* Managing stock levels with parts team.
* Experience working on mobile machinery and systems like brakes, steering, wheels, lift chains.
* Knowledge of electrical drive/control systems, engines, hydraulics.
Essential requirements
* Full UK driving license.
* City and Guilds qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Diagnostic computer skills.
* Experience in heavy goods, plant machinery, or automotive engineering.
