Where I’d work: The role is based in our Control Room and is part of our Central Control function based in Bradford. We expect a minimum of 4 days per week on site within our Control Room or operational sites as required.
Work type: Permanent. Working full time, 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday between a working window of 8:00am-6:00pm. As the role leads a set of 24/7 teams we can consider alternate working windows and flexibility.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Resilience & Response Manager to join us in the Central Control function at Yorkshire Water, you will play an integral role in continuous delivery of exceptional service to our 5 million customers both household and non-household.

Where you fit in:
As our Resilience & Response Manager for Wastewater you will lead our 24/7 wastewater teams. Delivering outstanding performance, meeting the needs of our internal and external customers and stakeholders.
You will have full responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of our Wastewater 24/7 teams, this means you’ll be focused on achieving alarm SLAs, mitigating risk and ensuring we respond to incidents effectively. The role is pivotal in providing 24/7 customer service, resilience of our wastewater operations and incident management.
Ensuring that we comply with all standards to deliver products of the highest quality as effectively and efficiently as possible.
What skills & qualifications are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have a strong Water Industry background & experience and good knowledge of waste operations and process lead continuous improvement. This should include multi-site operational responsibility for a business geared towards tight treatment process control and a systemic view of the assets being optimised. The track-record will demonstrate clear evidence of an ability to manage change and improve processes and operating performance as the basis for improved customer experience, profitability and asset health.
Your structure will include 7 direct reports and 18 indirect reports. Therefore, previous recent management experience is an essential requirement.
6 of your direct reports are our Waste Duty Operations Engineers, who manage the initial reporting of all our pollution incidents and provide desktop support to field teams when responding to potential incidents. To support this, knowledge of relevant legislation is highly desirable as you will be expected to drive and improve process adherence in this space.
Your other direct report will be a team leader with 18 direct reports that operate our 24/7 process, pumping and bioresources desks.
A confident communicator you will have a healthy internal and external network. You will have a broad range of influencing skills and be willing to hold colleagues to account based on individual performance against company targets.
You will be an excellent operational leader, balanced with the analytical and creative abilities necessary for innovation. Knowledge and experience of best practice and constantly looking for new ways of working and improving.
You will have strong commercial awareness of impact and benefit delivered via a set of proven numeracy and quantitative analysis skills. You will be a strong problem-solver and be able to carry out root cause analysis to identify and resolve complex business issues.
Self-confident, with a resilient personality and high levels of drive, determination and a disciplined approach to business, allied with sound judgement are key skills we are looking for.
You will have a valid UK driving licence, with no more than 6 points.
