* Champion the importance of education in shaping the future of young people?
* Believe all students, regardless of ability and circumstances, can be outstanding?
* Have the highest aspirations for the students you work with?
If so, we eagerly await your application. Ormiston Park Academy is currently seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to work in our ASCEND centre for 35 hours per week, term time only, including 5 training days.
ASCEND is a centre for students who have specific Social, Emotional and Mental health difficulties. The centre caters for students ranging from years 7-11 and has a high ratio of staff to students compared with mainstream schools. This allows for very small teaching groups and a percentage of one-to-one sessions where necessary. At ASCEND, we believe that in order to create an environment of respect, trust, and cooperation, we must work as a team, including staff, students, parents, and visitors. Our aim is to nurture students who can make a positive contribution to the wider community and are confident. It is vital that we empower and support our students to make positive choices while at school and throughout their lives. To create an inclusive, happy, secure, and stimulating learning environment, we encourage all members of the ASCEND community to grow in self-esteem, self-governance, and develop their potential.
Ormiston Park Academy is a small but growing and highly aspirational co-educational secondary school based in Aveley, Essex, for students aged 11-19. Our vision of ‘Believe and Achieve’ underpins all aspects of academy life, and you will play a vital role in providing the highest quality provision, impacting positively on outcomes for our students, ensuring aspirations become reality.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will:
* Be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with students, parents, external agencies, and Local Authority.
* Motivate and encourage pupils that you work with.
* Be ready to develop knowledge of the particular needs of the child.
* Commit to furthering your own professional development through the bespoke opportunities on offer at the Academy.
We will offer you:
* Collaborative working within our shared family of schools
* Cycle to work salary sacrifice scheme
* Local Government Pension Scheme Contributions
* Access to an exciting range of employee benefits from our health and wellbeing partner, Vivup
