Introduction: Clean Planet Energy (CPE) is a cleantech, renewable and alternative energy company, converting non-recyclable mixed plastic waste into circular oils and petrochemical feedstock. CPE’s mission is to continuously devise and implement sustainable green innovative technologies that will prevent toxic plastic waste from damaging the earth’s environment and oceans, diverting tens of thousands of tonnes of plastic waste annually away from landfills, incinerations, and oceans. For these purposes, CPE are developing and deploying a series of environmentally-friendly EcoPlants, process plants designed and engineered to take any non-recyclable waste plastic feedstock and, through various chemical recycling-based thermocatalytic processes, convert into low-carbon footprint, circular oils and petrochemical feedstock.
As the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for the safe day-to-day operations of the flagship CPE ecoPlant, ensuring that operational activities are carried out in accordance with legislation and safety procedures, providing specialist support to the site units and management. There is excellent opportunity for ascension to a Global Plant Operations Manager role, overseeing a number of CPE’s global plants operations.
Job description: Selected key duties and responsibilities among others, as Plant Manager include the following:
* Ensure on-site safe operations run to maximum efficiency to deliver required outputs
* Day-to-day monitoring of plant efficiency, directing the operations staff to plant operations improvement and optimisation
* Oversee and supervise the daily ecoPlant’s safety, technical, process, production, maintenance and other operations, communicating with senior management and engineering team for engineering requirements, ensuring planned preventative maintenance systems are carried out.
* Organising planned and reactive maintenance activities in conjunction with Maintenance Engineers, Shift Leads, Technology & Engineering Team, and scheduling and supervising of on-site contractors as required.
* Oversee planned major maintenance activities, such as plant shutdown, and planned/unplanned campaigns.
* Ensure reliability, availability, efficiency and maintainability of plant processes and equipment are at highest levels possible
* Efficiently manage plant KPIs and lead continuous improvements, working in line with applicable objectives set by the Company
* Manage and prioritise operational spending in line with agreed budgets, as well as providing general support to the rest of the management team across all aspects of plant and engineering.
* Perform facility audits and initiating actions to assure timely resolution of identified hazards & improvements.
* Supervise and oversee of relevant teams of multi-skilled process plant operators, technicians and personnel
* Supervise onsite maintenance staff, shift leads, and floor staff, providing ongoing guidance and support.
* Coordinate and manage external training programs for operational staff.
* Responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the ecoPlants
* Complete all health and safety reporting, including accident management, job observations, and near-miss documentation.
* Ensure that the highest possible standards of Health and Safety are maintained in line with the Company’s and site-specific H&S policies and Codes of Practice
* Ensure plant operations maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and licences, including Environmental Permit and relevant statutory compliance.
* Preparation, review and approval of site work instructions, procedures, workplace risk assessments etc.
* Maintain exceptional housekeeping standards at all times.
* Contribute to the writeup, development and implementation of plant manuals, procedures, guidelines, strategies and other documentations and systems including but not limited to Site Safety Inspection Procedure, Risk Management Program, Risk Assessments, Safe Working Procedures, PtW, Shift Management and Handover Guidelines and Procedures, Systems Operations Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures, Staffing Strategy, Orientation Training Program, Operator Competence Assessment Modules, etc. Ultimately, have the sign off authority that the persons working on Teesside are deemed competent.
* Provide relevant operations-in-design support to the ecoPlant project development efforts at all pre-operations phases, from design/engineering through EPC to commissioning to startup.
* Provide technical advice, support, and guidance in areas such as site utilities, raw materials, process unit operations, effluent treatment etc
* Contributions to plant’s capacity, efficiency, reliability and performance design, engineering and operations reviews at pre-commissioning, commissioning, and post-commissioning stages
* Contribute to the management and oversee of the installation and commissioning of the ecoPlants
* Oversee equipment monitoring, ensure all checks are completed, report and track faults until resolved, and arrange statutory inspections as required.
* Communicate relevant information, updates on issues/concerns, and key metrics to Team Leads for shift huddles.
* Compile, analyse and report daily plant-related metrics, identifying challenges and implementing solutions.
* Oversee plant activity costs to align with budget and participate in routine management and P&L review calls.
* Oversee floor stock, contingency planning, and supplies, including placing orders and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
* Monitor incoming waste volumes to ensure compliance with permit regulations and footprint capacity limits.

Essential requirements for role: Chemical/Mechanical Engineering discipline, educated to degree level, or equivalent, with a scientific and/or technical background;10-15 years of experience in Operations, ideally with at least 5 years demonstrable experience in a head or supervisory, lead/senior operations capacity. A good level of technical expertise and significant engineering experience in a similar environment. Previous waste-to-energy plant operations experience is an added advantage. Must have NEBOSH and other safety qualifications.

* Knowledge of environmental permits, H&S issues, and safe working environments.
* Extensive operational knowledge/experience of industrial plant operations, specifically in waste to energy/circular fuels.
* Must be flexible to adjust work schedule as determined by the demands of the business, therefore a certain flexibility is mandatory.
