Job Description
Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Lochgilphead, seeks a Speed Assessment Officer for a 12-month contract. The role is based in Lochgilphead with an option to work remotely.
Responsibilities:
* Review proposed speed limit plans across the network, including liaison with Traffic and Development Officers. This involves reviewing signs, road markings, and traffic management measures necessary for reducing mean speeds in accordance with national criteria.
* Procure pre-implementation traffic and speed surveys, including a 10% sample of identified streets. The same sites will be used for post-implementation surveys.
* Produce schedules for Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs) to implement the 20mph trial period. These temporary limits will be promoted under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
* Amend GIS mapping to reflect the agreed 20mph trial.
* Assist the Traffic team in implementing TTROs within 6 months of project commencement. This includes procuring signs etc.
* Analyse during the trial period, including feedback from communities, Members, business, and other stakeholders. Where sufficient reductions in speed are not achieved, assess whether additional traffic management is needed.
* At the end of the 12-month trial period, produce revised schedules for permanent Traffic Regulation Order(s).
Essential Skills:
* HND, Degree, or equivalent in Civil Engineering or similar.
* Equivalent experience may be accepted if evidenced.
* Membership of an appropriate Institution is desirable.
* 3 years' experience in a technical role in a roads or traffic environment.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation.
* Ability to provide high standard customer service.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to communicate effectively.
* Interpersonal skills with ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
Salary: £300/day (Inside IR35)
