Estimator opportunity at one of the UKs largest civil engineering contractors, working on various large civil engineering developments in Scotland across the central belt.
About the role of Estimator
In this role, you will join during the enabling works stage on the £1.2 billion Port development project. You will be Estimating for the conversion of Scotland's largest brownfield port, into a facility for offshore wind installations. This will include; extensive excavation and backfilling works, constructing reinforced concrete capping structures for a new quayside and anchor wall, and building a 65,0002 meter apron structure. The project will begin with the £40 million enabling works package, for which an Estimator will need to be appointed, and the following RC capping and Apron structure.
Alongside this project, various other large civil engineering works are in tender and preparation stage across the central belt and in the greater Glasgow region.
Responsibilities for the Estimator
Reading civil engineering design drawings
Material takes off's and tender summaries
Obtaining supplier quotations and negotiating
Preparing quotations to meet deadlines
Drafting detailed quotation
Liaising with clients to discuss the tender submissions
Quantifying material take offs and producing costs analysis for clients and the management team.
Monthly job costing forecasts and analysis
Attending client meetings and occasional site visits
Assisting with monthly applications and final accounts
Working with other departments
Requirements for the Estimator
Experience in Civil Engineering sector essential
Experience as an Estimator on Civil Engineering projects essential
Relevant Estimating or Quantity Surveying related qualification (HND/Degree or equivalent) desirable
