Provides cost management services from contract signature and award to completion of projects in various different sectors. Supervises daily activities of a team of professionals.
Responsibilities:
* Be a leading advocate of Mace's value of Safety First, accountable for leading and maintaining exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability and project compliance standards.
* Possess advanced technical expertise in local Health and Safety rules and regulations relevant to project portfolio.
* Champion a diverse and inclusive working environment and understand the importance of the wellbeing of the people you manage.
* Manage the delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives.
* Prepare contract documents, warranties, bonds and licenses to achieve formal execution by appropriate parties.
* Prepare costing associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges, and present these to clients.
* Advise on administration of the terms of construction works or services contracts.
* Measure and provide valuations of the work carried out and adjust variations in accordance with the terms of the contract and agree with the contractor.
* Ensure adequate cost control and reporting services during the contract.
* Prepare financial reports for the client in the form and at the frequency required.
* Participate in the evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs made by the contractor and any nominated subcontractors/suppliers.
* Advise on the issue of certificates of practical completion and ensure that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
* Deliver improvements in systems and processes, driving transformational change.
* Manage a team of professional roles, driving performance and results, whilst delivering performance management, technical development and coaching.
* Seek opportunities for continuous improvements/improving working processes.
* Develop effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
* Work collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, sharing responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
Minimum Requirements:
* Proven experience in commercial management.
* Sound understanding of costs and timescales of work undertaken and implications of risk of failure to deliver.
* Proven experience in areas such as risk management and change control management.
* Understanding different types of contract including the method of measurement.
* Negotiation skills and analytical skills.
* Digitally competent with a degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent).
* Relevant technical qualification/certification for project portfolio/s.
* Experience in most forms of contract.
* Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
* Good interpersonal skills to prepare reports, negotiate and build relationships with key stakeholders.
* Problem solving and analytical skills for resolving cost and contract administration and procurement issues within consult.
