Role Objectives:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Clarify legal environmental compliance obligations and help clients through the maze of legislation to ensure compliance with permits and licenses.
2. Support clients through the application and post application phases when additional information may be requested to comply with Environmental Permitting Regulation.
3. Conduct a wide range of environmental surveys to meet client’s environmental compliance needs.
4. Assist clients to comply with the ISO 14001 environmental management system standard.
5. Raise the relevant exemption, ensure the client is aware of the restrictions of the exemption and liaise as necessary with the Environment Agency.
6. Create tailored fire prevention plans, outlining fire procedures and safety plans, and specify the correct equipment to comply with fire safety legislation and regulations.
7. Assist waste management companies expand their businesses by applying for variations to their current permits to include new EWC’s (European Waste Codes), which can expand the range of materials they are allowed to accept.
8. Work with clients to increase their score for the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
9. Create, or offer guidance and support, in preparing and implementing a working site plan.
10. Provide a full management service to produce a completed Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP) including monthly waste arisings updates and site visits.
11. Be an expert user of the SitePlan online software tool and be able to talk knowledgeably about the annual licence fee system to clients if they could financially benefit from subscribing to the tool.
12. Undertake pre-demolition audits and prepare them to the ICE Demolition Protocol standards, identify opportunities for reclamation, reuse and recycling from a demolition process. Produce reports on waste arisings that can be expected from the process, along with a list of recommendations that can be followed to reduce client waste disposal costs.
13. Undertake pre-refurbishment audits and prepare them to the ICE Demolition Protocol standards. Produce a report detailing materials arisings as well as a list of suggested actions to be undertaken so that maximum material recovery is achieved.
14. Help clients plan their construction project and mitigate any environmental impact. The Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) or Construction Management Plan (CMP) should cover all possible impacts, such as noise, dust, vibration, Traffic and parking implications.
15. Help clients plan their construction project and mitigate any traffic impact. The Construction Logistics Plan (CLP)/ Construction Traffic Management Plan (CTMP) should cover all possible impacts and include projections of vehicle movement for each phase of the construction project.
16. Create a Swept Path Analysis for a variety of vehicles using software supplied.
17. Provide consultancy/support through to project ensuring the CEMP / CMP / CLP / CTMP are monitored and complied with.
18. Attend management meetings and report on client project performance against project targets (including adhering to project timescales and budget).
19. Identify and report on the potential sales opportunities that exist within existing customer accounts.
20. Work with your manager to set and achieve performance targets and take action for any deviations.
21. In client meetings, use effective questioning and listening skills to fully understand customer requirements.
22. Address customer complaints efficiently and escalate to the management team if required.
23. Ensure you are adequately trained and understand the Unique Selling Proposition of the WPS brand, the "Features and Benefits" of the WPS product and service range, especially the SitePlan Tool.
24. Have an interest and understanding of industry changes and competitor offerings.
25. Network with key contacts within the industry and building strong relationships with relevant regulating bodies.
26. Develop and build strong relationships with all customers by understanding their business needs.
27. Provide the highest level of customer service by offering a knowledgeable, responsive, courteous service that reflects the image and reputation of WPS.
28. Maintain a professional and smart appearance at all times, and conduct business with the highest level of integrity.
29. Document a Journey Planner to ensure you make best use of your time when visiting customers.
30. Feedback customer comments to colleagues to improve customer experiences.
31. Arrive promptly for meetings and client appointments.
32. Maintain accurate customer records and adhere to the Data Protection Act when handling this data.
33. To support customer visits, ensure that you are knowledgeable about the client’s business and external legislation etc. that could impact them.
34. Ensure visit reports are visible and accessible to all on WPS systems and core actions are shared and actioned.
35. Ensure compliance with business standards and processes, financial, legal and ethical guidelines.
36. Continue your Professional Development by attending relevant courses, reading industry specific journals etc. to perform in your role efficiently and effectively.
