National Resilience Instructor/Coordinator
Location: Agile across several SYFR locations
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Part Time - 4 days a week (0.8 FTE) - Flexi Time
WorkPattern: Monday – Friday flexible days
Salary: Grade 6 (£31,067 to 33,366) Pro-rata
New starters will commence on the bottom of the salary grade and will receive increases to the top of the grade on an incremental basis. We offer 28 days annual leave (pro-rata) plus Bank Holidays. Annual leave increases after 5 years’ service to 32 days, followed by an extra day a year up to a maximum of 37 days. We also operate a generous flexi time attendance scheme.
An opportunity has arisen within South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue’s (SYFR) Resilience, Planning and Contingencies section for a National Resilience Instructor/Coordinator.
The overall purpose of the role will be to provide National Resilience training and co-ordination to SYFR crews and officers, enabling them to provide an efficient, professional response to a Chemical, Biological, Radioactive, Nuclear (Explosive) (CBRN(E)) and High Volume Pump incident as well as incidents that constitute an act of terrorism of which all of the above could be, either local, regional or national.
To be considered for this role you will have previous experience of delivering training to adults and a good working knowledge of equipment used in the Fire & Rescue Service, particularly in relation to National Resilience Assets, including Mass Decontamination Unit (MDU), Detection Identification and Monitoring (DIM), High Volume Pump (HVP) and the Marauding Terrorist Attack (MTA) specialist response team.
You will have a rounded knowledge of the use and mobilisation of National Resilience assets, be able to plan and organise training and complete appropriate risk assessments and have experience of working within a safety critical environment.
You must possess an Award in Education and Training or equivalent e.g. PTTLS and have or be willing to attend training relative to managing safely, the wearing of a Powered Respiratory Protective Suit (PRPS), appropriate driver training including LGV and competence assessment.
The key duties will include training operational staff in the use of MDU, DIM, HVP and MTA equipment and associated procedures in a safe manner, and other training, which may be required from time to time. You will also be required to organise and administer the delivery of training, prepare lesson plans and carry out risk assessments in relation to the activities that you will deliver.
Most of our corporate roles offer flexi time and agile working, meaning people can vary their hours to suit their commitments outside of work as agreed with their line manager. Flexi time can be accrued with a potential of up to 13 days to be taken within a year.
