Overview Of Role

The successful candidate will be a plant-aligned engineer responsible for the performance of specific production plants as well as taking on some minor project work around the site as and when it arises. They will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and reliability of the plant and equipment in the area.
Continuous improvement projects will form a large part of the role and they will be expected to demonstrate a “can-do” approach to solving problems, making sure that plant performance meets the business KPI’s on safety, lost time, and waste.
Key Accountabilities
1. Liaise with production management team to ensure that shift engineering workload is prioritised correctly to meet customer requirements.
2. Analyse plant performance and Spidex data to drill down into repeat plant issues, identifying the root cause and implementing a “100-year fix” to eliminate the problem.
3. In conjunction with the production management team, create and implement plant improvement action plans to resolve engineering issues in a timely manner.
4. Coordinate with the engineering planner to create work plans for the weekly plant shutdowns, managing the day-to-day engineering activities on your given plant to ensure all work is completed on time and to the required engineering standards.
5. Assist with the organisation of the annual overhauls on your plants, using Spidex data and your knowledge of the plant to create a shutdown plan.
6. Support the engineering shift teams in resolving difficult engineering issues in a timely manner.
7. Support minor projects around the site, providing assistance with contractor control, planning workstreams, and budgetary control.
The Right Person
1. Time served apprenticeship.
2. HNC/HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline is desirable.
3. NVQ Level 3 in engineering (electrical or mechanical) or equivalent trade accreditation.
4. 17th edition wiring regulations (electrical).
5. Good knowledge of Health and Safety requirements directly relating to the Engineering function.
6. Working knowledge of CMMS.
7. Wide range of knowledge of functional engineering disciplines.
8. Ability to solve problems using a logical thought process and implement solutions to prevent reoccurrences.
9. To undertake self-measurement and development as appropriate.
10. Ability to work consistently to high standards and organise and prioritise tasks accordingly to workload.
11. Ability to operate under pressure in a fast-moving technical environment.
12. The ability to work as part of a multi-faceted team or independently as the situation demands.
13. Communication with internal and external functions.
14. PC literate.
15. Must be able to demonstrate a flexible skill set fully exploiting cross or multi-skill elements of training.
16. Coaching Skills / Train the Trainer.
17. Knowledge of Bakery Production and Processes.
18. Maintenance Techniques and Philosophies.
19. Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques.
20. Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a skilled engineering craftsperson / technician.
21. Practical experience gained within a manufacturing engineering function.
22. Problem solving and fault diagnosis.
23. Low level management experience desirable.
24. Consistently high standards even under pressure.
