Community Housing Assistant
Hampshire and parts of Surrey
Permanent, Full time (37.5 hpw)
Salary circa £25,000 per annum and great benefits including Health Cash Plan
Home, a place where you belong
This is a great job opportunity for a Community Housing Assistant to join Home Group's awesome housing team in Hampshire and parts of Surrey.
As our Community Housing Assistant (CHA), you’re the face-to-face customer support to our communities. If you like variety, meeting and supporting customers, and want to develop a career in housing, then this is the perfect job for you!
Typical day as our Community Housing Assistant
1. Through visibility, engagement with customers and proactivity on our estates, you’ll really get to know our communities.
2. You’ll support our housing managers to look after their patches and help us improve our local neighbourhoods.
3. You’ll assist with managing our empty property processes, liaising with local authorities, completing estate inspections, and engaging with contractors on site.
4. You’ll carry out and record routine safety and compliance checks in our buildings and communities.
5. You’ll manage admin tasks, including updating records, ordering, and arranging payment for works to be done.
Fancy going home each day knowing that you have helped change our customers' lives for the better? You’ll do that here, working for one of the top ten Great Places to Work in the UK!
You bring
1. A “can do” positive attitude, proactivity, and excellent organizational skills.
2. A real passion for delivering excellent customer service and a genuine desire to help your customers.
3. Confidence working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.
4. An understanding of housing management, housing law, and universal credit would be ideal, but they’re not deal breakers!
5. The ability to use technology to navigate our systems and update customer records.
6. An appreciation that this role involves spending much of your time lone working in our local estates, where access to a vehicle for business use is a must.
Due to limits on our current certificates of sponsorship, we cannot offer sponsorship to external candidates for this role. This remains under regular review.
Our team
You’ll join Scott’s team, who are passionate about what they do! We’re proud of our work in our communities to help our customers sustain their tenancies. We’re a supportive bunch and like to meet up regularly in our Port Solent office.
Job details
1. This is a hybrid role; you’ll be expected to split your time working from the Port Solent office, out in our communities in Hampshire and parts of Surrey, and working remotely from home.
2. There may be some flexibility to adapt your working hours; do let us know about this when you meet us at the interview.
3. We mainly work Monday to Friday and occasionally work evenings to meet with customers. The great news is that you’ll be able to shape your own diary.
4. To get from A to B, you’ll need a vehicle insured for business purposes; we’ll pay your mileage!
5. You’ll need a Standard DBS check done, and we pay for that.
A place where you belong
Great things happen when we can be ourselves at work. We want all our colleagues to be who they truly are here. Our internal diversity networks, peers, and allies (Multicultural, LGBTQIA+, and Disability) support us all to be our best. Together we make Home Group a great place to work!
What’s in it for you?

2. Health cash plan saving you from £1140 per annum; we’ll cover your costs (and kids if you have them) towards dental, optical, prescriptions, alternative therapies, and lots more.
3. Over 800 high street discounts on groceries, holidays, and days out.
4. We Grow Our Own colleagues; when you’re ready for the next step in your career, you can grow with us!
