Payroll Specialist | 12 Month Contract | (Inside IR35) | Hybrid (Glasgow, 3 days PW) | Starting ASAP
Day Rate: GBP193
About the Role:
The successful candidate will perform a key role within the UK Payroll team, reporting to the UK Payroll Manager. Ongoing responsibilities will incorporate a combination of project work, ownership of key monthly/annual processes, people management, statutory accounting, Payroll controls, risk and governance ownership.
Main Duties:
1. Ensuring all controls and legislation are adhered to for each UK payroll run for all payroll cycles.
2. Maintain a strong partnership with the UK payroll vendor.
3. Maintain an open dialogue with senior leadership, raising awareness of all potential or actual issues as you become aware.
4. Maintain and enhance the Payroll control framework around all payroll responsibilities, including SOX and internal controls.
5. Maintain a detailed understanding of current payroll legislation, with a proactive approach to plan for future changes.
6. Responsible for the management update of key metrics to optimise resource usage and identify improvements.
7. Governance and oversight responsibility for the timely and accurate disbursement of all payroll-related payments through BACS.
8. Liaison with internal and external auditors to assist with understanding the key processes, giving access to systems for sample testing, and providing evidence of key controls.
9. Ensure effective documentation is in place and regularly updated to account for changes in process and legislation.
10. Monitor controls to ensure that all employee queries are managed effectively and within the agreed SLA through a web-based query tool.
Essential Skills & Experience:
1. CIPP qualified desirable
2. SAP Global View experience highly desired.
3. Strong Excel skills are mandatory for the role.
4. Minimum 5 years UK payroll experience at a mid-senior level.
5. Deferred compensation and share award experience is desirable.
6. Proven track record in a professional organization.
7. Proven track record of Payroll Controls, risk, and Governance ownership.
8. Proven stakeholder and vendor management experience.
9. Ability to analyse and improve processes.
10. Strong knowledge of employment law and PAYE legislation.
11. System implementation, housekeeping, and software update governance experience required.
12. Expatriate knowledge is an advantage.
13. PSA/P11d knowledge is an advantage.
