With support from Scottish Government, NHS Western Isles are excited to have commenced planning and design for a new MRI service to be based at Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway. This is an exciting development, which will be of great benefit to the local community. Currently NHS Western Isles are looking to recruit a Lead Radiographer in order to support the ongoing planning, establishment and management of the new MRI service in the Western Isles.
The MRI modality lead must be highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated to the whole radiology service. This post will also be positioned as a senior member of the department and will deputise for the Radiology Manager.
The overall role is to manage and co-ordinate the work of the MRI suite and liaise with other departments, staff groups and patients to provide a comprehensive and effective service.
This includes MRI safety management, quality management of equipment and images, administrative duties and management of training programmes for other staff groups.
The main Radiology department is furnished with DR/CR (Philips/Siemens), Digital Fluoroscopy (Siemens), Multislice CT (Canon Prime SP 80), digital OPG, DXA and mobile imaging (Philips II, Philips Digital Mob), alongside a friendly team of support staff, Radiographers and Sonographers.
The department is supported remotely by NHS Borders Radiology department and Consultants.

The post will be based at the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis.
There is opportunity to undertake on-call duties, with this post, which is remunerated in addition to base salary.
The successful candidate will:
1. hold minimum of PgCert in MRI
2. hold DCR or BSc in Diagnostic Radiography
3. hold HCPC registration
4. have several years experience working in MRI
5. have demonstrable management skills
6. have understanding of the specific challenges of remote and rural healthcare delivery
