Who We Are Laerdal Medical is a global leader in training and therapy products for emergency medicine and critical care. Our products and services are used by hospitals, ambulance services, first aid organizations, educational institutions, and many others worldwide. We are a dynamic, energetic organization comprising individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds. By 2030, we aim to help save an additional 1,000,000 lives each year. Part of over 2000 dedicated employees in 28 countries, our UK Head Office is located in Orpington, UK with team members also located across the country to support our extensive customer base. Laerdal began as a children’s book publishing and toy company in 1940 with the mission of “creating children’s joy.” The introduction of plastics revolutionized the toy industry, leading to the sale of 100 million “Tomte” cars in over 100 countries. The popularity of the “Anne” doll grew throughout Europe. However, Laerdal’s expertise in soft plastics was the catalyst that eventually led to the development of the first resuscitation training manikin, transforming our focus. Responding to a request from the Norwegian Civil Defense, Laerdal designed realistic imitation wounds for military training which evolved to the need for a lifelike manikin for mouth-to-mouth ventilation training, and ultimately the creation of the first CPR Training Manikin, Resusci Anne in 1960. This shifted Laerdal’s mission to “helping save lives” and today, over 300 million people have been trained in CPR and it is estimated that more than 2 million lives have been saved. Aasmund S. Laerdal, the founder, attributed success to values still central to Laerdal today: •The ability to listen •Endless curiosity •Practical problem-solving •Respect for the customer •Hard work •A passion for continuous improvement For more information about the position please contact James Buchanan (James.Buchananlaerdal.com).
