Position: Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher
Subjects: English, Health and Physical Education, Learning Languages, Mathematics and Statistics, Science, Social Sciences, Technology, Te Reo Māori, The Arts
Salary: 3MU + 1MMA
We believe that our Y7–8 teaching team is our most strategically important – they lay the foundation for all of our students’ learning and experiences of our kura. We’re looking for a head of faculty, a teaching and curriculum team leader with vision, commitment, and experience, along with 3 additional non-contact hours.
With around 280 students and 10+ teachers across Y7–8, our ideal candidate will come from a primary/intermediate background, be a proven teacher, and have recent experience leading an effective team culture with excellent curriculum and teaching practices. The successful candidate can expect a very satisfying key role within a team of middle leaders, supported by an assistant and two deans, in a relatively traditional school environment where all classrooms are single and most have glass dividers allowing flow when appropriate.
As a semi-rural school close to Christchurch and the Alps, at the heart of our community, our change programme is based on a strong vision. We’re in the midst of implementing PB4L and restorative practices, curriculum reform, and cultural capability development. We have a growing roll of about 830 students, Y7–13, most of whom are very well supported from home and well connected to their school, some of whom need us to adapt our practice to meet their needs.
Feel free to make direct contact with the principal, Andy England, to discuss the role: (027) 668 0472 or principal@darfield.school.nz
