Our Residential Support Workers create a safe and supportive environment for children and young people to grow and develop. You will ensure their wellbeing is prioritised by delivering personalised care, guidance, and advocacy. It is key that they stay safe and healthy and can reach their full potential.
We are seeking both qualified and unqualified Residential Support Workers to join our growing team. Please check the job description carefully to understand the expectations of your level of entry. About the service
As a Residential Support Worker in our Peterborough service, you'll be supporting the transition our of young person into their own forever home!
They've been living in their current setting in Hampshire for some time and therefore our mission is to bring them home, where they'll be close to family and receive the stability, consistency, and appropriate care they need.
Our approach is therapeutic, driven by love and a commitment to helping the young person thrive. We aim to integrate them into the community as much as possible by supporting and encouraging independence as they transition into adulthood. Working closely with partner agencies including health, education, and social care partners, as well as the young person's family, we'll provide high-quality support using a trauma-informed approach. These relationships will enable our young person to do all of the things they enjoy.
To help you get to know a little more about our young person, they would like to introduce themselves.
I am 17 years old, of Nigerian heritage and I want to move to my forever home.
I have moderate Learning Disability, Processing Disorder, ASD, and ADHD. I require daily support, helping me to have a healthy diet, lifestyle and broadening my communication skills. My personal and care needs are bathing, feeding me, communicating & developing my skills.
I love being active a lot of the time, running, jumping, dancing, climbing and I really enjoy water play, massage and exploring my environment.
I need help in developing my opportunities in the community and to enjoy activities and things that make me happy. I turn 17 in 2024 so will need so will need support in developing skills to assist me in adulthood.

How you'll help to create brighter futures
* Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing, and managing risk.
* Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.
* Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.
* Lead shifts with the primary aim of the provision of a high-quality service.
* Supervise and guide staff as required, in accordance with Action for Children policies and procedures.
* Lead by example with the application of Action for Children's policy procedures and professional practice standards and in line with registration requirements

* Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a 'can do' attitude to join our team. Ideally you will have:
* Experience of leading Shifts in a Care setting
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent).
* Experience and training in safeguarding.
* An innovative and creative approach to problem solving.
* Experience of developing tailored care plans
* The ability to create a safe and fun environment for both staff and children in the home and in the community.
