Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for four Healthcare Assistants to join the Older People and Adult Community (OPAC) Intermediate Care Unit based in Peterborough.
The Intermediate Care Unit is currently a bedded inpatient rehabilitation unit. Our unit is a joint Nurse/Therapy led facility. We have visiting Consultants and daily GP support. We provide short term rehabilitation for individuals from the age of years who have had a change to their physical health. This may be due to an exacerbation of a pre-existing medical condition, an overall general deterioration in their abilities or acute cause.
Main duties of the job
Main duties will include the delivery of direct patient care, following our Trust policies and procedures, being responsive and respectful to patients, their families and colleagues' needs.
To observe and report to a registered member of the team any changes which may indicate an alteration in the general well-being and safety of a patient. This includes observations on the patient’s clinical condition. To be aware of own limitations and when to seek support and guidance.
To provide patients with personal care as required and demonstrate empathy, dignity, respect, and compassion at all times.
To be an active team player and work with patients, families, and members of the wider multi-disciplinary team.
