Lifebox is a growing and dynamic global health non-profit co-founded by Dr. Atul Gawande and dedicated to saving lives by improving the safety of surgery and anaesthesia around the world. Lifebox works to increase anaesthesia safety, reduce surgical infection rates, and strengthen operating room teamwork through tools, training, and partnerships. Since its founding in 2011, Lifebox has worked in over 116 countries and trained more than 13,000 healthcare providers. Lifebox is registered as a charity in Ethiopia, Liberia, the UK, and the US, with just over 50 staff and affiliated faculty, and an operating budget of nearly $4M supported by individual donors and foundations.

The Role
As Lifebox continues to grow, they are seeking an exceptional Director of Development, who will play a pivotal role in expanding and diversifying Lifebox’s funding base. With a focus globally, you will be charged with the responsibility of securing the financial resources necessary to fulfill their mission. You will oversee all aspects of Lifebox’s fundraising efforts and will build and develop strong relationships with donors and partners alike.
Reporting to the Global CEO, key responsibilities will include:
* Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with the organization's future goals.
* Donor Relations: Cultivate and steward a diverse portfolio of donors, including major gift donors, foundations, and corporations.
* Fundraising Campaigns: Lead and manage successful fundraising campaigns, such as annual fund drives, capital campaigns, and special events.
* Grant Writing: Identify and pursue grant opportunities, write compelling proposals, and manage grant reporting.
* Team Leadership and development: Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high-performing development team.
* Financial Management: Oversee the development budget, track fundraising revenue, and ensure financial accountability.
* Board Engagement: Collaborate with the board of directors to develop fundraising strategies and ensure board member support.
* Communication: Effectively communicate the organization's mission and impact to donors, staff, and the public.
Potential candidates for this unique opportunity will be experienced non-profit development professionals. You will be able to demonstrate a track record of building strong relationships with donors and stakeholders on an international scale. Some experience with US major donors, marketing, and foundations would be a plus. You will share a passion for the mission and goals of Lifebox. You will be comfortable dealing within a healthcare focussed environment, being able to communicate medical issues to medical and non medical audiences. You will be self motivated and have a proven ability to take the initiative.
