Play Leaders work as part of a staff team of 12 to provide comprehensive care for the children attending our after school care service, this includes:
1. Collecting children from school;
2. Taking an active role in planning, preparing and delivering quality play experiences, including consultation with children;
3. Preparing a healthy snack for children's arrival;
4. Assisting in setting Up and maintaining a hygienic, healthy, safe and secure play space and working environment.
5. Responsibility for specific aspects of club administration
6. Active involvement in updating and maintaining children’s personal plans

Full Time Play Leader shifts will be as follows:
Monday - 1.30 to 6.00pm
Tuesday - 2.30 to 6.00pm
Wednesday - 1.30 to 6.00pm
Thursday - 1.30 to 6.00pm
Friday - 10.00am to 6.00pm
With an additional 2 hours possible by agreement for specific administrative tasks.
Play Leaders must be available during full Edinburgh Council school term dates, dates for the - school terms are as follows:
Term 1 – Wednesday 13th August to Friday 19th December
Term 2 – Tuesday 6th January to Thursday 2nd April
Term 3 – Tuesday 21st April to Friday 26th June
SASCS operates holiday services during October, February, Easter, May In-Service Day and the first four weeks of the Summer Holidays and additional hours will be available during these holiday periods for play leaders.
All full time staff receive annual leave during the first two weeks in August, over the Christmas and New Year Holidays and during public holidays as confirmed by City of Edinburgh Council.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE POSITIONS WILL START ON 12th AUGUST. All staff will attend a whole staff meeting on this day and our service will open to children on 13th August and new staff will then complete 2 shadow induction shifts before starting in their position of play leader
