Job Description:
Your new role
We are expanding our commercial management team to support National Highways’ annual £1bn investment programme to maintain the Strategic Road Network. As part of this, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team.
You will lead a team of quantity surveyors and be responsible for the end-to-end commercial and contract management of a complex programme of schemes, each valued from £1m to over £30m. This role offers opportunities to enhance your leadership, stakeholder management, and commercial skills in a complex delivery environment.
This position is based in Bristol with a flexible hybrid working approach, combining office and home working.
What you’ll be leading on
* Managing the commercial and contract aspects of all schemes, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and timely responses to contractual matters.
* Line management responsibilities.
* Mentoring, training, and coaching team members; supporting professional qualification pursuits (e.g., MRICS).
* Overseeing supply chain management, including enquiry documentation, quotation assessment, works order awards, and payments.
* Ensuring accurate scheme cost and value reconciliation, assisting with forecasts and risk profiling.
* Managing site-level change processes, including early warnings and compensation events, and producing related documentation for clients and supply chains.
* Acting as the first point of escalation for contract and commercial issues.
To be successful you’ll need
* HND or higher in Civil Engineering, Commercial Management, or Quantity Surveying.
* Membership or associate membership of relevant professional bodies (RICS / CInstCES).
* Experience in contract administration, preferably with NEC contracts and in a portfolio or programme setting.
* Post-qualification experience in Quantity Surveying or Commercial roles, providing expert advice on complex commercial issues, ideally within civil engineering or infrastructure sectors.
* Stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage, prioritize, and collaborate effectively.
* Line management and mentoring experience (preferred).
