Our client is a successful Main Contractor currently searching to add to their Design team and lead the design coordination and management of a wide portfolio of commercial construction projects across the North East. This person will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects, managing the design process, and collaborating with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to achieve the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
* Design Coordination and Management:
* Lead the design team, coordinating the work of architects, engineers, and other specialist consultants.
* Review and approve design drawings, specifications, and other technical documents, ensuring compliance with building regulations, codes, and client requirements.
* Identify and resolve design issues, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to project schedules.
* Client and Stakeholder Management:
* Maintain effective communication and collaboration with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
* Present design proposals and updates to clients and project teams.
* Address client concerns and ensure their satisfaction with the design process.
* Value Engineering and Cost Control:
* Proactively identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimisation during the design phase.
* Collaborate with the estimating team to ensure designs are aligned with project budgets.
* Risk Management:
* Identify and assess design:related risks, developing mitigation plans and contingency strategies.
* Ensure that all design decisions are made with a focus on safety, quality, and sustainability.
* Documentation and Reporting:
* Maintain accurate and up:to:date design records and documentation.
* Prepare reports on design progress and any potential issues.
* Continuous Improvement:
* Stay abreast of industry trends, design technologies, and best practices.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of design management processes within the company.
Key Requirements:
* Proven track record as a Design Manager within the construction industry, preferably with experience working on commercial projects.
* Strong understanding of building regulations, codes, and construction methods.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
* Ability to effectively manage and coordinate design teams.
* Proficiency in using design software, including AutoCAD and BIM software.
* Strong problem:solving and decision:making skills.
