Title – Trainee Solicitor – Motor Finance
Salary – £25k + healthcare
Location – Slough (Hybrid)
Type – FTC 12 months and potential to extend to Permanent
Our well-established client is looking for a Trainee Solicitor will work with the General Legal Counsel to support the transformation of the business as well as provide the essential day-to-day services of an in-house solicitor across a wide range of practice areas including FCA regulation, litigation, commercial lending, employment and commercial property. They will also assist the General Legal Counsel in his role as company secretary.
Key Responsibilities of Graduate Solicitor –
1. Review and drafting of commercial and supplier contracts
2. Assistance to the customer complaints team by providing advice on consumer law and FCA regulation
3. Advising on commercial lending and banking
4. Assisting with litigation in the evolving field of commission complaints
5. Advising on legal and regulatory matters, including FCA regulation
6. Representing the legal department at internal and external meetings
7. Liaising with and managing external counsel
8. Reviewing and updating customer contracts and documentation
9. Review of financial advertisements to ensure they are compliant with FCA and ASA rules
10. Drafting commercial agreements
11. Provision of legal updates to management and staff
12. Assisting the General Legal Counsel as company secretary
13. Advising on HR matters and employment law
14. Ensuring that the contract repository is up to date
Skills and Qualifications of Trainee Solicitor –
15. Law degree (or equivalent) is essential
16. If qualifying via the LPC route, having completed the LPC is essential
17. Applicants wanting to qualify via the SQE route are also welcome to apply
18. Demonstrates the ability to build good relationships with various stakeholders in the business
19. Precise drafting ability
20. A good strategic thinker
21. Interest in the motor industry and/or consumer credit
22. Able to work under pressure
