Here at The Dudley Group Group NHS Foundation Trust we have an exciting opportunity for an 18-month fixed term full-time training post in Echocardiography. This is part of the Echocardiography Training Programme (ETP) developed by the National School of Healthcare Science (NSHCS) and funded by NHS England.
Successful ETP trainees will be trained to BSE accreditation level 2 and will be awarded a Post-graduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography. For more information, please see the NSHCS website at

Main duties of the job
1. The trainee will learn how to perform and interpret echocardiograms under guidance from the training co-ordinator and senior echocardiographers.
2. Carry out audit to continuously improve patient care and service needs.
3. Communicate and interact effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure a positive patient experience.
4. Trainees will be expected to complete all work-based training and assessment and gain registration with the BSE. In addition, they will be expected to undertake work-based experience to enable them to communicate complex technical, scientific and sensitive information to colleagues within their department in both verbal and written forms.
5. The trainee will abide by all local policies and Trust policies, ensuring safe use and cleaning of equipment. They will also maintain patient confidentiality and dignity as laid out by Trust policy. All mandatory training and local procedures are to be completed and followed to ensure good clinical practice and excellent patient care.

7. Committed interest in echocardiography and its application in the clinical environment
Qualification
Essential criteria
8. A 1st or a 2:1 in either an undergraduate degree (including an integrated masters degree) in Cardiac Physiology (PTP) or a relevant scientific subject (eg pure or applied physics, Biology or Human Biology or Sports Science (if significant scientific content)
9. Alternative/vocational qualification plus sufficient and relevant underpinning knowledge and skills in Cardiology-Evidenced by appropriate voluntary registration with the RCCP/Academy of Healthcare Science or willingness to work towards

11. Previous experience working within a Cardiology department. Good understanding of cardiac diagnostic testing and procedures
