Autism Support Worker
Location: Worcester
Salary: £12.03 per hour
Role Description
Gray Healthcare are recruiting a new team of mental health support workers within the Worcester area to support a gentleman in his 20's who has a diagnosis of Autism, Epilepsy, and Learning Disabilities. He will be living independently in his own home, receiving 2:1 support 24 hours a day. The gentleman we will be supporting has a good sense of humour and enjoys watching cartoons and nature documentaries. He will be supported by a mixed-gender team on mixed shifts of days and waking nights.
Required Skills and Experience
* Social care experience, ideally within mental health, and with some experience of supporting individuals who are non-verbal and have Epilepsy.
* Experience providing encouragement to a person with complex health needs and Learning Disabilities.
* Experience supporting individuals with behaviours that may be considered challenging.
* Experience implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments.
* You must have current Right to Work in the UK and have been employed in the UK for at least 6 months. We no longer have any certificates of sponsorship available and are unable to consider sponsorship.
* This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
Hours
Bank Hours on wake night shifts: 12-hour shifts from 8pm-8am, covering shifts on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights.
Induction and Training
We provide an initial week of training that includes online training (company induction, systems, and medication), followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK, which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice. This is a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint-dominant approaches. You will then complete person-centred training specific to the individual you are supporting. Training continues throughout your time with Gray Healthcare, and we encourage you to develop and grow your career with us.
