Cedar is partnering with a Local Authority in the South East to recruit a Principal Accountant to join their dynamic Corporate Finance team. The successful candidate will inform strategic decision making, deliver expert financial advice and spearhead budget maintenance, monitoring and control.
Salary: £52,000 - £62,000 per annum
Location: South East
Hybrid Working Pattern: 2-3 days on site per week
Contract Length: 9 months
Responsibilities
Collaborate on the annual budget setting process. Oversee the preparation of revenue & capital expenditure and income budgets with the Finance Manager. Highlight financial risks and opportunities. Design robust financial models and analytics to determine the financial impact of future service demands and changes in legislation. Seek out alternative funding sources to fill established gaps. Streamline internal process improvements. Assist with the annual account closedown process in compliance with codes of practice and reporting standards. Liaise with external and internal auditors and upkeep accurate audit trails. Mentor and train junior members of staff.
Requirements
CCAB or CIMA qualified. Previous experience in a similar role within a Local Authority
