Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse- SDEC - Band 6
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge nurse nurses to join the team in the ever-developing Same Day Emergency Care service.
SDEC's main aim is to reduce hospital admissions and improve patient safety and satisfaction.
SDEC sees a wide range of patients from the UTC, GP's and direct admissions from EMAS. These patients have a wide range of medical conditions, we aim to streamline the patients journey by delivering assessment, diagnosis and a treatment plan in the same day.
Grantham SDEC also provides a medical day case service which supports patients with biological infusions, venesections, blood transfusions and many other treatments.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will work within a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic environment, making good communication skills a necessity.
Due to the nature of the post, extended skills such as IV additives, IV cannulation, Phlebotomy, and ECGs are desirable.
The successful candidate will support the B7 Sister in managing the day-to-day running of the department.
The post holder will work flexibly doing 11.5hr shifts currently set over a 5 day week.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (RN) - Level 1
* Evidence of continuing professional development, e.g., willing to undertake a degree; have a degree or can demonstrate experience of working at this level.
* Evidence of continuing education & professional development
* Appropriate mentor qualification or equivalent teaching qualification
* Degree in related subject
* ALS
Skills
* Proven assessment and teaching skills and the ability to develop competencies through which practice can be assessed.
* Proven oral and written communication skills.
* Able to manage difficult or complex situations effectively and to work under pressure.
* Demonstrates the ability to implement Trust Policies and Procedures in practice, understanding the rationale behind such documents.
* Demonstrates the ability to implement sustainable change which enhances patient care/experience.
* Ability to manage and motivate staff.
* Ability to prioritise and organise workload.
* Able to demonstrate MDT working.
* IT Literate
* Demonstrates an understanding of the principles of research.
* Demonstrates an understanding of the national agenda, demonstrating that they are able to translate this into everyday policy and practice.
Experience
* Experience working in nursing roles which hold key leadership responsibilities.
* Demonstrates the ability to implement and sustain high standards of individualised, clinically effective, up-to-date evidence-based care on a regular basis.
* To have a range of experiences in nursing acutely unwell patients.
* Experience of undertaking research/audit.
* Knowledge of clinical effectiveness and audit.
