Job summary Our Medical Secretaries handle a variety of duties that aid the daily function of our two practices, and they are critical to helping support our GPs and clinical teams. Our most important requirement is for a strong leader who can bring out the best from our team with a positive approach to change and development in a challenging environment. Main duties of the job The duties are usually wide ranging and the main responsibilities include: manage the administrative side of the referrals process for all care pathways; process referrals/advice and guidance requests and any follow-ups necessary using the appropriate NHS referral systems, in accordance with local and national guidelines; provide referral and treatment pathway information and administrative support to the whole practice teams; be the first point of contact for medical secretarial queries, communicate processes and show initiative when dealing with complex queries autonomously; manage the flow of non-NHS requests from patients and third parties ensuring efficient use of practice resources; run searches and formulate strategies that can improve data quality on important domains like disease prevalence; ensure call and recall system operate effectively to evidence performance.
