Airframe Structures Design Engineer.
Bristol / Hybrid (M5 / M4 / M32 area).
12 month fixed-term contract.
My client is a rapidly expanding Engineering Consultancy, engaged for an exciting aerospace programme. They are now looking for a Design Engineer with a background in airframe structures to join them on this project. Does this sound like the exciting next step of your career?
As an integral part of the design department, you will take ownership of providing professional, specialist design engineering services. The key responsibilities of your new role as Airframe Structures Design Engineer are as follows:
1. Providing design and build services to the client for a prototype aircraft.
2. Along with the team, providing a solution to prepare composite and metallic structure detail and assembly definitions.
3. Design checking.
4. Creation of cross check of model-based definitions within the 3D experience digital mock-up.
5. Engaging with other relevant engineering teams to ensure compatibility and continuity of design.
6. Reporting to the relevant Design Lead for the programme.
7. Interacting within the team and interface teams towards a common objective for design maturity.
8. Defining design solutions for new components/assemblies and modifications to existing components (composites and metallic) according to cost, weight, quality, manufacturability, serviceability and performance.
9. Providing evidence of design compliance with customer/technical specifications.
10. Preparing drawings and other engineering data required for the manufacturing of the product and data submittal to the customer.
11. Producing ECN as required to support manufacturing, customers, quality and certification.
12. Ensuring quality of deliveries.
My client is keen to find someone with significant design engineering experience in airframe and/or composite aero structures. The ideal candidate will possess excellent knowledge of wing, empennage and fuselage, as well as computerized design and analysis methods. Good written and verbal English skills are essential, along with the ability to work to tight deadlines and customer demands.
