Lead Mechanical Engineer (Nuclear)

* Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading the development of Mechanical engineering and design within multi-discipline EPCM or EPC projects.
* These projects will range from Concept Design to Execution Designs.
* Initially, you will support projects within the nuclear sector, with opportunities to work on projects in other sectors such as Oil & Gas, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, and Food.
* You will lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers.
* You are responsible for leading and driving quality in engineering designs and projects, including the checking and approval of design deliverables.
* Ensure designs comply with CDM regulations and other relevant standards.
* You will manage and complete the mechanical design within the defined scope, time, and budget, including change control and consistency with other disciplines.
* You will participate in internal and external design reviews and are responsible for design acceptance by the client.
* Make independent decisions on issues, providing expert technical support within the mechanical engineering team.
Your profile
If you have the following profile, then we are looking forward to meeting you:
* Hold a qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Nuclear Engineering, preferably to Degree level (BEng or MEng).
* Demonstrable experience (5 years plus) as Lead / Senior / Principal Engineer in multi-discipline engineering projects.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IMechE or equivalent institute (Preferable).
* Working knowledge of general engineering standards and specifications (Essential) and nuclear standards (Preferred).
* Knowledge of the principles and practices of mechanical engineering and their implementation in design.
* Understanding of other disciplines (Civil, Structural, EC&I, and Process).
* Experience with producing or contributing to mechanical specifications, scopes of work, calculations, drawings, 3D models, schedules, and design risk assessments.
* Result-oriented; satisfaction comes from client acceptance of your designs and high-quality performance.
* Ability to plan and organize activities effectively, understanding dependencies between mechanical and other disciplines.
* Familiarity with main mechanical design packages such as AutoCAD, Plant3D, E3D, and Caesar II.
* Implement solid change control procedures and communicate budget and planning implications of changes to clients.
* Ability to lead and motivate your team to achieve targets.
* Proficiency in developing and presenting design packages to clients, ensuring alignment with job scope.
* Able to prepare for chair design review meetings.
* Able to meet UK security clearance requirements (SC Clearance Preferable).
