Purpose of the Role The Security Team Leader will report to the Security Team Manager / Security Manager for the support, coordination and delivery of the security team by providing guidance and supervision of the Security team. Ensuring the department remains compliant within Governing bodies, as well as internal policies and procedures. Thus, ensuring exemplary standards of security and first-class customer service are provided to the Colleagues, Retailers, Customers and visitors to Victoria Centre at all times. You will have direct line management responsibility for a large scale, multi – functional team. The role will involve setting the standard and leading your team, developing and delivering our service model in line with our strategic operational objectives, to become an employer an “employer of choice”. As well as working in partnership with external clients such as emergency services and Counter Terrorism policing, you will have the ability to act decisively with an uncompromising eye for detail. Key Responsibilities To attend meetings, when required, with the Security Team Manager / Security Manager, retail partners or with external visitors. Lead by example to ensure Security Officers are helpful, approachable and courteous at all times, developing and maintaining good relationships between, retail partners and their employees, members of the public, contractors, emergency services and other visitors to the centre. To keep all business and staff information confidential and adhere to the Data Protection act and company policy, and maintain the security of the Centre property, equipment and information at all times. To maintain safe working practices in line with HASAWA, the Company’s own health & safety policy and all relevant legislation including toolbox talks and quarterly welfare meetings with the department. To ensure all safety fire corridor / escape, pre-opening, closing, first aid equipment checks and any other reasonable requests, are undertaken by staff under your supervision To always be observant, deal with and report suspicious packages/ persons immediately as well as informing Duty Manager of yours or your teams actions and completing appropriate paperwork To work additional hours and show flexibility regarding hours worked as necessary. Working pattern is a 3 week rota, week 1 and 2 are day shifts, week 3 is a night shift comprising of 4 x 10 hours shifts, predominately Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs. To be confident in conducting team briefings, ensuring that the department are fully aware of centre operations, information and expected requirements. To ensure the delivery of first-class customer service is achieved within the department and to seek ways of ensuring staff deliver consistently high standards. To implement systems and procedures to ensure standards are continually maintained to the highest specification for the needs of the business. Have a clear vision for first-class customer service in all endeavors. You lead by example, uplifting the team, and install a passion for excellence. To coach, train and mentor the security team, and new starters, on how to conduct their security duties in line with company policy, company security strategy and Assignment Instructions. Ensuring that a customer focused, hands-off security culture is always maintained and situations in line with company policy and safe hold training. Monitor radio communications and bodycam footage to ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times. To undertake any further duties requested by the Manager, as appropriate to the position. Skills, Knowledge and Experience Essential: Experience in working within a Security environment or previous experience of a supervisory role within another department. Must hold a valid front line SIA licence. (Manned Guarding / Door Supervision) and be first aid qualified. Professional, smart of appearance Excellent customer service skills Excellent communication, verbal and written with high attention to detail Supportive and proactive team player Well-developed IT skills and computer literate. Desirable: IOSH or NEBOSH accreditation. Experience of working in a retail environment SIA CCTV Licence. COMPETENCIES Must have highly developed influencing skills and a successful track record of operating at a supervisory level, develop and maintain strong relationships • Ability to focus on best practice, the Security Team Leader will use their creative approach and personality to influence at all levels, leading yourself and the team to meet demanding targets and deadlines. • You will be able to follow instructions and be confident in briefing key messages to your direct reports. • Excellent communicator at all levels, fluent in English, and enjoys working as part of a team. • Experience within teams where motivation and development have been key drivers • Excellent leadership skills • Ability to work unsupervised and take to responsibility and be proactive within your approach. • Aptitude to remain calm under pressure, flexible, ability to problem solve and be keen to learn new skills.
