We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Pharmacy Assistant within our Pharmacy Logistics Services at Ipswich Hospital, to provide a comprehensive Top-up Service to the Emergency Department and maximise stock control in the area.
As part of the role, you will be able to undertake NVQ Level 2 modules in Pharmacy services. We are committed to providing a supportive environment with opportunities for training and personal development.
For this role, you will thrive in a busy and active environment, have good communication skills both on the phone and face to face, and will adapt positively to change and be able to be flexible in your working day. You will need to have the ability to work within a team and on your own.
For this role, you will be required to participate in the pharmacy 7 day working roster. You will also be required to lift and handle potentially heavy boxes and move boxes and other items throughout pharmacy and the hospital.
Main duties of the job
* To work with the Pharmacy Team to provide a comprehensive Top-up service to The Emergency Department and maximise stock control in the area.
* To work independently in managing Pharmacy in top up areas and liaise with the Pharmacy team when complex issues arise.
* If stock is unavailable, liaise with Pharmacy team and The Emergency Department staff to discuss alternatives.
* To relocate Patients' own drugs when left behind on transfer using relevant IT systems.
* Deliver Controlled Drugs to The Emergency Department.
* Ensure an efficient service is arranged and communicated to the relevant The Emergency Department staff and Pharmacy Team in times of own absence.
* Liaise with pharmacy manufacturing unit over the availability of TTA packs.
* Deputise for the Senior Pharmacy Assistant on Theatres and Anaesthetics as necessary.
* To undertake any underpinning knowledge training as required by management.
* To complete in-house competencies as required for the post.
