How The Apprenticeship Works
Our industry recognised Engineering apprenticeship schemes are a great way to kick-start your career. Our Body Coach Builder Apprenticeship will give you the knowledge and skills to become a world-class engineer, accomplish your career and financial goals, and give you a trade for life.
Unlike schemes at other companies, the Stagecoach Apprenticeship Scheme will give you unlimited support, with a dedicated mentor throughout the 4 years.
You will meet regularly with Managers and Engineering Directors for advice and guidance, and start the course with a comprehensive tool-kit.
You can join one of our apprenticeship programs at a number of locations across the UK, starting in August or September each year. Wherever you learn, you will complete the same tasks regardless of your fleet’s vehicle profile - giving you the same opportunities as all other candidates.
What you can expect to learn:
The Body Coach Builder Apprenticeship course is brilliantly varied, and will give you a comprehensive understanding of the role and key responsibilities, including:
1. Health and Safety
2. Tools & equipment
3. Welding, glazing and painting
4. Removing and refitting body panels
5. Repairing damage to body panels
6. Interior repairs, including rectifying damage to seats and flooring
7. Vehicle preparation and masking for painting
Alongside practical, hands-on learning, you will also attend a specialised training college in Glasgow. Here, you'll work towards achieving the Bus and Coach Engineering Technician Standard.
The fourth and final year is a bespoke, award-winning program crafted by Stagecoach UK Bus, endorsed and certified by the Institute of the Motor Industry. You will be paired with an experienced mentor to provide guidance and support as you consolidate your technical skills.
Upon successful completion, you will be eligible for membership at the Society of Operations Engineers, further enriching your professional journey.
The Benefits You Can Expect
