GSL Education are on the lookout for a Specialist SEN Primary Teaching Assistant to join a warm and inclusive school setting in Chesterfield. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional who is not only passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) but also has the flexibility to drive – a must for this role due to off-site learning and transport needs.
The Successful Candidate Will:
* Support pupils with a variety of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and learning or communication difficulties.
* Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions tailored to individual education plans.
* Assist class teachers in planning and delivering inclusive lessons.
* Support students’ social and emotional development through positive reinforcement and patience.
* Help with personal care where necessary, promoting independence and dignity.
* Use your driving licence to support students in off-site educational and life-skills activities.
Requirements:
* Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly within a primary school setting.
* Strong understanding of a range of SEN, such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social-emotional needs.
* Ability to provide both one-to-one and group support, adapting strategies to individual learning styles and needs.
* Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting young learners.
* Confident in managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies.
* Strong communication skills to work effectively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals.
* A flexible and proactive approach to supporting pupils across different learning environments.
* Willingness to assist with personal care tasks when required.
* Must hold a full UK driving licence, as some travel may be necessary for off-site learning or support.
* A relevant qualification in education or SEN support (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
