Job Title: Accounts Assistant
Reports to: Finance Manager
Contract: Fixed term, full time (9-month maternity cover between April 2025 – January 2026)
Hours: Min 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm)
Location: Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Somerset County Cricket Club! We are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join our Finance department on a fixed term basis.
You will support the Finance Manager with the day-to-day financial operations of the club – ensuring accuracy and efficiency across all tasks and contributing to the smooth running of the finance function. Responsibilities include purchase and sales ledger processing, reconciliations, and cash sheets. You will also assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including data entry, analysis, and reporting.
About You
Amongst other essential criteria, you'll need to be AAT qualified (Level 1 or 2) or have equivalent experience in an accounts role within a team environment. You have experience with accounting software (SAGE 50) and good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data manipulation. You will also be proficient in purchase ledger and sales ledger processing.
You have strong numerical and analytical skills, alongside excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines. You are a strong communicator with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and external stakeholders.
