The Role The Head of Engineering & Capital Projects will oversee the engineering and asset management functions across the dairy sites as well as overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of capital projects within the organisation. The Head of Engineering & Capital Projects is a key leader in ensuring that the company's engineering and capital projects team are managed efficiently to the highest standards. This role contributes to the company's success by driving continuous improvement across all aspects of engineering and capital projects in the business and maintaining a strong reputation for operational excellence. The role holder will devise and implement a group engineering strategy which aligns to with the overall operations strategy to deliver the organisations goals and objectives. Key Responsibilities Strategic planning and leadership develop and implement the engineering strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives. Provide leadership to their team along with the wider engineering team across the dairy business, providing direction and support to ensure delivery of agreed projects and KPIs. Develop and implement asset management policies and procedures to ensure optimal utilisation and maintenance of company assets, ensuring a consistent approach across the group. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Develop and report to the COO on asset performance metrics, establishing a group standard approach for reporting, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed. Ensure fit for the future systems are in place to ensure real time group reporting capability and performance monitoring which gives real time visibility to aid improved business decision making and communication. Collaborate with other departments, including production, supply chain, and procurement, to ensure that engineering and asset management standards are maintained throughout the organisation. Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors to ensure the business is best placed to understand new to market technologies. Provide leadership to the Capital projects lead to ensure alignment around ways of working in terms of capital project governance and ensuring delivery in line with business expectations. Ensure appropriate forums are in place to share best practise initiatives to improve asset efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance operational performance. Ensure a strategic workforce plan is place around group engineering resource requirements ensuring appropriate skills are in place to ensure a fit for the future workforce. Lead the coordination of the engineering graduates. Act as a sponsor in relevant group Operational Excellence activity ensuring engagement and buy in. Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in engineering and asset management and implement best practices within the organisation Qualifications and Experience Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical), Construction Management or related discipline. Significant experience in engineering and capital project management. Demonstrated experience in leading high performing engineering teams Experience with budgetary management, contract negotiations and multi-stakeholder management Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards. Experience in the Food industry is highly desirable. Demonstrated experience in project management methodologies, tools and software.
