Morson Talent are delighted to present an opportunity for a suitably qualified, experienced and accomplished Quality Management Lead to join our client’s established team for work associated with a major energy infrastructure Project in Somerset. This is a 12-month (renewable) contract position – inside IR35.
Location: Somerset Energy Innovation Centre, Bridgwater with hybrid working options/supplier visits.
Contextual Information
The Quality Management Team is responsible for acting as the ‘Intelligent Customer’, ensuring that quality arrangements are in place and effectively implemented by the supply chain to control manufacturing activities across the Site delivery programmes.
Role Overview
The role of the Quality Management Lead (QML) will ensure Project quality requirements are complied with across the full project life-cycle (Contract award, Design, Procurement, Manufacture, Test, Shipping, Construction/Installation, Test/Commission and Contract close out).
Primary Accountability
1. Review, accept and monitor Contractors Quality Assurance Plans (CQAP) provided by the supply chain.
2. Identify needs for supply chain audits and engage Supply Chain Auditors to perform audits and prompt resolution of findings.
3. Produce Project Quality Control Plans (PQCP) for each contract.
4. Ensure deployment of key quality contractual arrangements including the General Quality Assurance Specification (GQAS), Lifetime Quality Records Specification, Quality Release Certificate and the Inspection & Test Plan Specification.
5. Provide relevant guidance to contractors.
6. Lead the implementation of LTQR reviews.
7. Support the determination and application of strategies for progressive provision of LTQRs by contractors.
8. Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
9. Ensure manufacturing surveillance per contract is applied in a graded approach.
10. Ensure overall effectiveness of ITPs submitted by the suppliers.
11. Establish and check planned inspection witness and hold points marked in the supplier Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) / Quality Plans / Follow Up Documents (FUDs).
12. Coordinate, monitor and improve the efficiency of manufacturing documentation review.
13. Perform joint inspections when required.
14. Support the monitoring and technical resolution of non-conformances.
15. Produce quality documentation (e.g., specifications, procedures) as required.
Knowledge & Skills
Essential
1. Experience in project delivery, preferably in the nuclear power sector.
2. Solid understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control in major projects.
3. Confident communicator, able to prepare presentation material.
4. Experience of interfacing with project teams and supply chain organisations.
5. Ability to influence and provide constructive challenge.
6. Pro-active and flexible, being prepared to plan and work on own initiative.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of the nuclear sector, ideally new build.
2. Knowledge of pressure and nuclear codes.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
1. HNC/HND qualification or degree in a relevant science or engineering subject.
2. Broad experience of implementing quality-related solutions.
3. Proven leadership experience in a quality assurance/control environment.
4. Proven experience of interaction and resolving issues with a wide range of stakeholders.
Desirable
1. Hold a professional accreditation.
2. Commercial exposure, especially supplier management.
