Shaftesbury Icanho is a non-residential highly specialist community-based brain injury rehabilitation service. The demand for our service is growing, and we are looking to expand our team.
Icanho's client base is 100% acquired brain injury including stroke. Our clinical work is undertaken as an interdisciplinary team, and physiotherapy is an integral and valued part of that work.
This role is an excellent development opportunity for someone with an interest in neuro-rehabilitation. You will be working alongside our small team of experienced specialist physiotherapists to deliver client-centred rehabilitation, 1:1 and group interventions, and at the same time continually building your skills and knowledge.

Main duties of the job
With support from specialist physiotherapists, provide physiotherapy assessment and interventions for rehabilitation of clients following the consequences of Acquired Brain Injury including Stroke, involving and working with carers and families as appropriate.
Set smart goals and write timely reports in line with service policy maintaining the highest standards of clinical record keeping utilising our EPR SystmOne.
Participate actively in interdisciplinary and multi-agency meetings concerning the delivery and development of the clinical service for clients, and provide specialist consultation, supervision, and advice to other disciplines.
Take responsibility for the supervision of rehabilitation assistants and PT students, with support from colleagues.
Develop and take part in educational sessions for carers, families, and other agencies as required, and participate in internal education, case reviews, and peer support.
Act as key worker as required in relation to individual clients.
Play an integral part in the evaluation, development, and integration of evidence-based practice, including relevant technology, within the PT department and wider service with the opportunity to contribute to the overall direction and development of the PT department and interdisciplinary service.

Purpose of the job:
With support from specialist physiotherapists, provide physiotherapy assessment and interventions for rehabilitation of clients following the consequences of Acquired Brain Injury/Stroke.
Work with carers/families as appropriate.
Play an integral part in the evaluation, development, and integration of evidence-based practice [including relevant technology] within the PT department and wider service.
Contribute to the overall direction and development of the PT department and interdisciplinary team/service.
With support from the specialist physiotherapists, exercise professional responsibility for specialist ABI PT assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients.
Provide PT assessments of clients based upon the appropriate use, analysis, and interpretation of data from a variety of sources, including valid outcome measures.
Formulate and implement plans with the client and their family or carer for evidence-based treatment and/or management, including goal setting and discharge planning.
Ensure a high quality of treatment is delivered with the support of the specialist PTs in the team, using ABI experiential and theoretical knowledge, clinical reasoning, and reflective practice.
Set goals and write reports in line with service policy/practice in a timely manner and in language appropriate to the recipient, maintaining the highest standards of clinical record keeping.
Ensure that family and carers are involved with the rehabilitation process and provide education and training as required to maximise the clients’ level of function and independence in both home and community environments.
Ensure that a high standard of communication with clients, families, carers, and outside agencies is maintained.
Undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and provide advice to other professions on physical aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
Ensure that physiotherapy reports for internal or external use are written in a timely manner that reflects specialist knowledge and skill, and maintain the highest standard of clinical record keeping.
Undertake visits to clients' homes/local communities when clinically necessary.
Manage physiotherapy resources and ensure appropriate and safe use of equipment, and appropriate stock control.
Participate in the evaluation and selection of new technology, equipment, and resources for physiotherapy and Shaftesbury Icanho.
Act as key worker as required in relation to individual clients.
