As Programme Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-value, complex projects while ensuring that they meet key targets in terms of time, cost, and quality. You will manage a team of Project Managers and Engineers, coordinating resources and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the programme, while adhering to governance policies and maintaining a focus on continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage all aspects of the Systems Programme, ensuring alignment with company policies and governance procedures. Act as Project Manager for complex and high-profile projects, delivering within agreed timeframes and budgets. Monitor expenditure and performance, ensuring projects meet specified outcomes and deliver real, measurable benefits. Allocate resources and manage the technical skills required to achieve project success. Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery and collaboration. Regularly report progress to senior management, including Programme Boards and other key committees. Ensure the programme meets audit and compliance standards, including internal and external reviews. Lead and develop a strong project team, focusing on capability-building and fostering professional growth. Manage reputational risks and ensure the successful delivery of all projects, meeting stakeholder expectations. Qualifications & Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in project management, with a strong background in managing complex, large-scale projects. Proven experience in managing operational projects and systems in a technical or infrastructure environment. Experience of contract and financial management, including managing large project budgets. Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing teams and resources effectively. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders. Experience in working within a regulated environment, with a focus on safety and compliance standards. Degree-level qualification in a technical or business-related discipline is essential. Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM) is desirable. Desirable Skills: Experience in managing interfaces and systems within operational environments, ideally related to transport or infrastructure. Experience of working in a unionised environment and managing industrial relations. Knowledge of health and safety, environmental, and employment legislation. Familiarity with project management tools and software, such as MS Project, for creating and managing timelines, resources, and budgets. Working Conditions: The role offers flexibility and may require some weekend or night shifts depending on project needs. You must be able to meet safety-critical medical standards and hold a valid driver's license for travel as required.
