An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Busy Day Surgery Unit. We are now looking to recruit a Clinical Specialist in Day Surgery Theatres.
Main duties of the job
Promotesand demonstrates excellence in practice as clinical lead for multiple areas ofexpertise .
The successful applicant will be working closely with the Team Leader and other members of the MDT.
Creates, maintains and enhances effectiveworking relationships
Organising the clinical workload to ensure thatstaff are competent and confident to care for the needs of the patient.
Contributes to the identification of the skilland manpower requirement of the team, adopting flexible working practices.
Ensures effective delegation in line with thecapabilities and competencies of the staff delegated to.
Participate in the monitoring and the managementof sickness/absence
Participate in the recruitment and selection ofstaff
Participate in the identification and monitoringof staff performance through mentorship and assessment of individuals. This maybe through a shared team approach or individual performance review.

Maintain current and safe evidence basedpractice by reviewing/writing perioperative policies on an annual basis
Assisting in the investigation of complaints ina proactive manner to improve and review the quality of the service
Assist/participate in the investigation ofclinical incidents in a proactive manner to improve and review the quality ofservice
Contribute to the development of annualdepartmental, directorate and trust objectives and the transfer of these topractice
Works in line with core trust policy

As part of the multidisciplinary teamparticipate in the Who Safeguard Surgery Checklist for each patient; sign n,time out and sign out procedure.
Work in partnership with a multi-disciplinaryteam, assessing health related needs of patients and their carers to identifyand initiate steps to deliver effective and evidenced based care.
Promote and demonstrate a holistic care ofindividuals
Carry out identified intermittent dual roleskills after undertaking the Trust in house training programme for minor tointermediate cases in accordance with the trusts dual role policy andguidelines
Demonstrating clinical judgement and the abilityto articulate why decisions are made.
Deliver direct care to patients within theircaseload in accordance with the Trusts policies and NMC/HPC Guidelines.
