Title: Academy Senior Physiotherapist
Reports to: Academy Head of Performance & Medicine
Location: Various (Academy Office, Academy Training Venues)
Contract Type: Full Time (35 Hours per Week across 7 days)

MAIN DUTIES
As a key member of the Academy Performance & Medical team, you will play a vital role in delivering outstanding medical care and services, including treatment, rehabilitation, and match-day support to players within the Development Squad. You will serve as the lead physiotherapist for the U9 to Dev. Squad age groups, offering both clinical and operational guidance to our team of therapists. Your direction will uphold the highest standards of care, ensuring exceptional service and support for our players.
* Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure appropriate physiotherapy support for all players.
* Manage a team of casual therapists, ensuring adequate qualified medical coverage for all matches and training sessions across the academy pathway (U9 to Dev. Squad).
* Lead and contribute to the development of the monthly CPD (Continuous Professional Development) programme.
* Attend all Dev. Squad training sessions and matches to provide injury assessments, treatment, and general physiotherapy support.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for Dev. Squad players reporting illness or injury, in coordination with the academy doctor.
* Collaborate with Performance staff to implement and manage individualised pre-habilitation programmes for all Dev. Squad players.
* Oversee the management and rehabilitation of acute injuries within the Dev. Squad and provide support to other academy age groups when necessary.
* Act as the Dev. Squad liaison for FA Whereabouts and advise players on FA Doping Control requirements.
* Communicate daily with Performance & Coaching staff regarding player injuries.
* Maintain a comprehensive and accurate injury audit across the Academy.
* Organise and manage age-appropriate risk profiling and injury prevention screenings for all academy players, including cardiac screening for players aged 15 and above.
* Ensure medical records are maintained accurately, promptly, and securely within the athlete management system.
* Be available on request as a stretcher bearer for first team home matches.
* Liaise with the Academy Doctor and Head of Performance & Medicine regarding medical referrals, imaging, and consultant appointments.
* Ensure a smooth transfer of information from U18 and Dev. Squad to First Team Performance & Medicine staff to ensure a smooth transition for players moving between squads.
* Accompany players to medical appointments as necessary.
* Monitor and manage stocks of medical supplies, ensuring adequate trauma equipment and supplies are available at all training sessions and match days.
* Engage in regular Continuous Professional Development activities to maintain and enhance professional skills.

KEY COMPETENCIES
Essential
* BSc (Hons) Degree in Physiotherapy
* Registered with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
* Valid FA Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football Certificate (ATMMIF).
* A good understanding of long-term athletic development and its implications for the multi-disciplinary approach across the Elite Player Performance Pathway (EPPP).
* Experience of working with developing athletes
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD) Portfolio
* Up to date FA Safeguarding Children certificate
* Prior to commencement, an Enhanced DBS will be required
Desirable
* MSc in Physiotherapy / Sports Medicine or equivalent
* 3 Years Experience working in an academy setting
