Sysco Europe, who’s operating sites are in Great Britain, Ireland, Sweden and France are now recruiting for a Solution Architect to join the European Technology team on a 2-year fixed term contract.
What will I be doing?
Reporting to the Inbound Logistics Lead, the Solution Architect will support the deployment of RELEX across the Sysco EU network, with a focus on supply chain and demand planning. A critical in shaping the infrastructure and architecture of data flows between RELEX and our current internal systems. You’ll work closely with the project teams to define how Sysco’s systems interact with RELEX, ensuring seamless integration and effective data management across multiple platforms. You will design solutions that enable us to capture and process data within Sysco’s current systems and feed it efficiently into RELEX. The role will work within the supply chain project team to translate business requirements into technical solutions, presenting solution options to support decision making that consider both immediate needs and longer-term considerations in the wider Sysco Europe landscape. You will document high- and low-level designs to which the solution is to be defined, managed, and delivered by the project team and vendor, ensuring alignment with compliance to policies and standard operating procedures across Sysco Europe.
This is a home-based role, however occasional travel across Sysco’s GB and European depot network is required, so flexibility with travel is required.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
1. Primary focus of the role is to support the Supply Chain and Merchandising strategy and roadmap, with a specific focus on the design, integration, data, and technical deployment of the supply chain planning solution (Relex) across Sysco Europe.
2. The role is the Solution Architect for the Sysco Europe supply planning and will assist in the definition of the master template, integration, data flows, migration strategy, technical landscape.
3. The role is accountable for the definition, governance, and documentation of technical solutions for Sysco Europe – Supply Chain and Merchandising.
4. Working closely with the solution architecture community to establish best practice tools / techniques and frameworks for adoption.
5. Ensure personal knowledge and exposure to application, infrastructure, and data related technological innovation opportunities remains up to date, appropriate and relevant.
6. Recognise the importance of alignment of the supply planning solution for Europe, and alignment with the Global Enterprise architecture team on design, landscape, architecture.
7. Work with both agile and waterfall delivery methodologies, flexing style to suit the needs of the deliverable/local market, but always seeking ways to improve speed/quality.
About you:
We're looking for a Solution Architect to manage the Relex solution at a technical level, providing expert guidance on integration, data architecture, and system integration while ensuring compliance with Sysco IT standards, data security, and performance requirements. Understanding and experience of the Supply Chain or FMCG industry, ideally with familiarity of the Relex supply planning solution, though this is not essential. Experience with other commercial supply chain solutions would also be highly beneficial
The ideal candidate has a proven track record in leading solution selection and design, ensuring alignment with IT policies, data protection, security, and licensing requirements across diverse solution sets and markets. A sound knowledge of architectural frameworks such as TOGAF (preferably with current certification) is required, along with proficiency in architectural tools and software products. You’ll have experience in producing high-quality architectural design documentation using both specialised and general software tools. Strong communication skills are essential, as this role involves working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior Executives across the supply chain network. A good understanding of both waterfall and agile delivery methodologies is required, as well as previous involvement in transformational or major change programmes.
