Sanctuary Personnel are seeking an experienced Learning Disability Nurse, Children’s Nurse, or Mental Health Nurse to join our client's secure healthcare team. As a key member of their multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of patients, completing assessments, and providing holistic care that addresses a variety of complex needs.
About Our Client:
They have been a leading provider of healthcare services within justice environments across the UK since 2005, delivering primary care and forensic healthcare to a diverse range of patients. Their services span Secure, Custody, and Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARC). One of their facilities is an 80-bed secure establishment dedicated to supporting young people aged 12-17.
They offer a wide range of healthcare services in line with the NHS, including GP services, Dentistry, Optometry, Physiotherapy, and Podiatry. Additionally, they provide Immunisations, Sexual Health Clinics, and Young Fatherhood programs. Their team utilises the Comprehensive Assessment Tool (CHATS) across the youth secure estate, with a multidisciplinary team comprising RNLDs, RMNs, RGNs, and RCNs.
What’s Involved:
* Manage a caseload of patients with diagnosed Learning Disabilities or ASD, including initial assessments, care planning, and follow-up.
* Participate in processes designed to support patients at risk of self-harm or suicide, in line with NICE Guidance.
* Attend monthly supervision with your line manager and complete annual EDR to review targets, progression, and learning objectives.
* Use excellent communication, interpersonal skills, patience, and resilience to support patients effectively.
* Provide training and advice to staff on caring for patients with Learning Disabilities.
* Assist with awareness days and workshops delivered by the PCMHT, and work with the team to further develop these initiatives.
* Participate in weekly Integrated Mental Health Team Referrals meetings to ensure a cohesive approach when discussing at-risk patients.
The Ideal Candidate:
Essential Skills:
* Part 1 NMC registration
* 5 years of UK residence history
Desirable Skills:
* Evidence of further development of clinical practice
* Experience working in a secure environment
* Degree-level qualification or higher
* Experience in innovation or change initiatives
* Nurse Prescriber qualification
* Experience working in a ‘value for money’ service
* Driving licence
