Joseph Ash Galvanizing Bilston are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Support Engineer/Fabricator to assist with production support engineering, general fabrications, and site mechanical engineering tasks. Candidates need to have a passion for engineering and manufacturing engineering, have general all round mechanical maintenance and fabrication skills (welding/sheet metal work/pipe work etc). The ability to work as part of a team together with an excellent attitude towards Health & Safety and be self-driven are key attributes for this role. Working at heights is a key requirement hence successful candidates should be comfortable operating a MEWP. The role is a multidiscipline/support role to both engineering and production, providing support in both areas, but under leadership of the site Engineering Supervisor. Main Responsibilities Completion of planned preventative maintenance routines associated with all plant and equipment to include mechanical repairs and plant refurbishment. Completion of planned maintenance tasks, issued by the Engineering supervisor. Supporting production with process related fabrications, ideas and modifications. General metal fabrication work for plant equipment repairs, production equipment manufacture and general maintenance requirements. Assisting in development and implementation of preventive maintenance routines. Inspection and testing of equipment to ensure safe operation of the plant. Supervision of visitors/contractors as required. Supporting the business and production team as required. Provide out of hour (evenings and weekends) cover on a rotational basis. Skills and Qualifications Highly skilled and experienced in mechanical engineering and metal work fabrication with a recognised qualification. Experienced in delivering production engineering improvements and ideas. Ability to weld - MIG/STICK with recognised qualifications. Abily to visualise, design and fabricate using basic sketches and end user concepts. Experience of basic fault finding on mechanical systems. Ability to read, understand and follow mechanical technical drawings/documentation. Experienced in equipment disassembly refurbishment and reassembly. Previous experience of maintaining overhead cranes/hoists would be beneficial to the applicant.
