We have an exciting vacancy for a highly experienced and dynamic financial professional. Daisy Chain Project Teesside is both an established and growing charity which supports autistic and neurodivergent people and their families. Our head office and day centre is based on a beautiful 5.5 acre farm setting in Norton and we have 2 charity retail stores: a Superstore in Portrack Lane Stockton and a Megastore in Team Valley Gateshead. We have won Charity of the Year at the 2023 North East Charity Awards, in addition to the Outstanding Social Enterprise of the Year in 2022.

Hours: 22.5 hours per week. Flexibility around these hours will be considered.
Salary Scale: £38,000 - £40,000 per annum (Pro-rata)

Job Summary:
The Head of Finance is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the financial health and sustainability of Daisy Chain. You will provide strategic financial leadership, ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and contribute to the achievement of the organisation's mission and objectives. This role also involves making financial recommendations, supporting budgetary responsibilities, presenting reports, conducting feasibility studies for business development, and management of a small team.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy and Planning:
* Develop and implement financial strategies that align with Daisy Chain's mission, long-term goals and business plan.
* Prepare and manage the annual budget in collaboration with departments and stakeholders.
* Monitor financial performance and provide reports to the CEO and Board of Trustees.
* Make recommendations for efficiencies and growth initiatives.
Financial Management:
* Oversee all day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, and payroll.
* Ensure accurate and timely financial records are maintained in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
* Manage cash flow, investments, and financial risk.
* Work with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to support budgetary responsibilities and maximise financial performance.
* Preparation and timely submission of monthly management reporting and ensuring robust and accurate presentation of financial and management information at finance committee and board meetings.
* Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Compliance and Governance:
* Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including tax laws and reporting requirements.
* Support the Board of Trustees in financial governance matters, providing guidance on financial policies and procedures.
* Write and present reports to the Trustee Board and the Finance Committee.
* Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors and tax authorities.
Fundraising and Grants Management:
* Work closely with the fundraising team to develop and execute fundraising strategies.
* Oversee grants management, ensuring compliance with grant agreements and reporting requirements.
Financial Analysis and Decision Support:
* Provide financial analysis and insights to assist with strategic decisions.
* Evaluate the financial impact of proposed programmes and initiatives.
* Conduct feasibility studies for new areas of work, such as learning and skills funding, and educational contracts.
Business Development Support:
* Collaborate with the SLT to identify growth opportunities and assess their financial viability.
* Support Daisy Chain in exploring new growth areas, including educational contracts and other opportunities.
Qualifications:
* Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA), Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA), or qualified by experience.
Experience/Skills:
* Experience in a senior financial leadership role preferable, but not essential.
* Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles, practices and regulations is desirable (preferably in the charity sector, but training can be provided).
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
* Experience in writing and presenting financial reports is essential.
* Strong analytic mindset and excellent attention to detail is essential.
* Confidence in conducting financial analysis and feasibility studies for business development.
* Proficient in financial software and MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
