Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a growing and dynamic Acute Oncology Service (AOS) within the East Suffolk & North Essex Foundation Trust We have a permanent, part time 26.25 hours per week. You will work across both Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals. We also have a fixed term/secondment until 6th May 2026 to cover maternity leave for 21.45 hours per week at Ipswich Hospital. Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only. Based within the Acute Oncology Service you will have the ability to develop and consolidate your existing skills in medical/oncological triage and the assessment of acutely unwell oncology patients within the organisation. You will be pivotal in the co-ordination and further expansion of the role within the Acute Oncology Service across both sites within the trust. You should have experience of triaging unwell medical and or oncology/haematology patients and the ability to manage a dedicated patient caseload as part of a team. Main duties of the job You will carry out over the phone assessments and inpatient rounds reviewing patients who have presented to the AOS unwell either through a complication of malignancy or side effect of Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments. For this role you need to have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
