The role is varied and includes liaising with patients and clinical staff, processing prescriptions and providing an efficient system of medication reviews. You will be working as part of a team to ensure that medication requests are processed and completed in a timely fashion.
Main duties of the job
You will work closely with both admin and clinical staff ensuring all administration duties and patient requests are processed in accordance with practice policy. You will be responsible for providing a safe and accurate prescription service to patients, processing both acute and repeat prescriptions ensuring compliance with the practice protocol.

Job responsibilities
5. Process repeat prescriptions on a daily basis ensuring compliance with the practice protocol.
6. Deal with prescription queries from a range of healthcare professionals including; GPs, nurses, community pharmacists, nursing home staff as well as reception/administration staff at the practice.
7. Support the practice pharmacists as required.
8. Deal with medication changes from hospital letters, removing old medication, adding new or making dose changes. Sending letter to patient, including confirmation of changes. Add any relevant monitoring diaries.
9. Effectively manage own time, workload and resources
10. Add new patient medication. Pass to registered GP for approval highlighting any concerns found. Liaise with patient via phone call or letter
11. Ensure medication reviews are arranged with an appropriate clinician
12. Support the Prescribing manager with any aspect of practice administration and clerical duties deemed necessary.
13. Any other duties as reasonably requested

Qualifications
Essential
14. Good level of education to GCSE standard or equivalent
Experience

15. Computer literate with excellent keyboard skills
16. Self-starter, able to work on own initiative, following set procedures and protocol
Desirable
17. Use of clinical system software eg. SystmOne
18. Previous NHS experience, ideally within a GP setting
Knowledge and Understanding

19. Medical Terminology knowledge
20. Knowledge of handling data
