The post is designed to complement the existing work of our well-established 0-25 Inclusion and Outreach Teams, focusing particularly on the timely and effective identification and assessment of children and young people who require additional support in school settings.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Operate as part of an established Inclusion team (Secondary Phase) contributing to the delivery, assessment and planning of high-quality interventions for children and young people with SEND or those at risk of suspension and those at risk of permanent exclusion.
2. Work within the school setting on a one-to-one basis with students.
3. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings / Panels.
4. Work alongside children and young people, families, staff in settings and other agencies.
The teams are currently based at Middlesbrough House but the job will involve visits to schools and settings across Middlesbrough, so you will need to have independent transport (appropriate mileage costs are paid). The inclusion teams follow a hybrid working model, spending some time working from home, time in the office, and some time in schools and settings.
Candidate Requirements:
1. Demonstrate a commitment and understanding of working with children whose needs may not currently be met in mainstream education and have a desire to support them, their families, and those who work with them.
2. Demonstrate a good understanding of how children and young people learn and strategies to support inclusive learning and well-being.
3. Have the knowledge and skills to support, advise and contribute to the graduated response to support children within school settings.
4. Possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to support schools, parents/caregivers, and students, advising and guiding on behaviour management strategies.
5. Have knowledge and experience of supporting children with special educational needs.
6. The ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams and the confidence to advise and coach others to overcome barriers to successful inclusion.
7. The ability to organise their own time and prioritise tasks.
8. Demonstrate flexibility, positive energy, a solution-focused approach, and resilience.
9. Good IT skills and excellent communication skills.
This vacancy is part time, 32.5 hours per week, term time only.
